Portraits of Hope is more than a refugee story collection — it aims to inspire the world by elevating the voices of those who lost theirs. The struggles that refugees face do not end once they arrive in a new country. Upon their arrival, they face challenges accessing healthcare, educational services, employment opportunities, and other basic needs. On top of this, they must adjust to a new culture and language, while often struggling with trauma and associated mental health issues from fleeing their home countries. Despite the staggering number of refugees worldwide, so many are unaware of their stories or the challenges they face, nor are people aware of the fact that many of their stories started off just as normally as anyone else’s before being upended by circumstances out of their control.
