About the Founder
Alexia
Growing up in Athens, Alexia was captivated by the winding stories of The Odyssey and the influence of the Athenian statesman, Pericles, who amplified the voices of millions, radically changing the right to free expression and transforming democracy. Alexia started Ray of Hope to empower other kids, help them find their voice, and acquire life skills that will help them thrive in school and beyond. Having the self-confidence to trust their abilities and follow their dreams is crucial for any child’s personal development.
Alexia’s love of literature sparked a desire to advocate for the education of refugees. She received her first national writing award at the age of 8, was shortlisted for the Author of Tomorrow Award and published in the anthology, 'Robots, Rebels and the Resistance’. Outside of Ray of Hope, Alexia spends her time reading, playing tennis, and spending time with her family in Athens.
